The Wailin’ Mailman

Back in 2018, a nine-story mural was constructed. The inspiration for the new street art came from the story of a local mailman named Buck Hill. Not only did he work in the postal service, but he also performed jazz music in the area, which was once known as “Black Broadway.” Switching careers led to his nickname “The Wailin’ Mailman”. This building is meant to showcase and remember Buck Hill for the impact on his community and local jazz music.
